Tri-State’s 42 cooperative and public power district members are about as diverse as a group of utilities can get. They serve more than one million rural, urban, agricultural, commercial, industrial, and residential consumers in four states – Colorado, Nebraska, New Mexico and Wyoming.
Our members are in this together. The cooperative model allows members to share the benefits when times are good and moderate the risks of economic downturns, provides for investment in new projects and management of market volatility. Our members see the benefits of belonging to an organization that operates on a not-for-profit basis, is managed by a democratic process and returns any excess revenue collected directly to the members. Additionally, they value Tri-State serving as a reliable source of electricity at an affordable price.
Tri-State and our members continue to evolve, and together we are addressing changes facing the electric utility industry. Important issues – like increasing local renewable energy as part of an individual member’s fuel mix – are topics of discussion and, as is always the case, there is a commitment to an open and respectful dialogue, resulting in our long track-record of finding solutions together.
