Tri-State's actions to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic

For electric cooperatives, there’s a deep connection between power and the well-being of the communities our members and Tri-State together serve. In these challenging times, our cooperative principle of Commitment to Community has greater meaning than ever before.

As a wholesale power supplier, Tri-State is intensely focused on safely delivering power to our member distribution systems and ensuring the reliability of the regional power grid, protecting our employees’ health, and supporting state and national directives to stem the spread of COVID-19 in our communities.

Our electric system is operating normally to deliver power to our members, and well-planned procedures are in place to protect the health of our employees and our communities.

Tri-State prepares for a wide range of scenarios that could impact our business and has implemented extensive business continuity plans to ensure our operations are sustained. Tri-State has also activated established programs and procedures to mitigate the impacts of pandemics and protect our employees from communicable diseases.

Tri-State’s Crisis Management Team, representing all functions of our operations, is actively assessing potential impacts to our operations and taking actions that mitigate those impacts. These actions include:

  • Ensuring our critical generation, transmission and operations teams are staffed and have the resources needed to safely operate our power system;
  • Implementing best practices to protect employees from the spread of COVID-19, including achieving social distancing for employees through work from home programs and enhanced facility cleaning processes;
  • Coordinating with local, state and federal health and emergency management officials to ensure reliability and protect public health; and
  • Postponing in-person meetings with our membership in accordance with public health directives, including postponing our Annual Meeting and other membership committee meetings.

Tri-State continues to support our members, employees and communities, and together we will get through this difficult time.
