Tri-State announces funding for Yampa River Fund

• Tri-State to donate $60,000 over three years; to be matched anonymously for double the impact.
• Fund will invest in conservation and restoration activities that positive impact water supply, wildlife habitat and recreational opportunities.

(December 5, 2019 – Westminster, Colo.) – Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association announced today that it will donate $60,000 in funds, which will be matched anonymously, to the Yampa River Fund over the next three years. The cooperative is also a member of the Fund, which was established in September.

The Yampa River Fund is a community-driven water fund dedicated to identifying and funding activities that protect the water supply, wildlife habitat and recreational opportunities provided by the Yampa River.

The Fund will invest in conservation and restoration activities that positively impact Yampa River flows to support recreation outfitters and ranchers throughout the valley, and to ensure a healthy, flowing Yampa River.

“Tri-State is enthusiastic to announce our contribution to and participation in the Yampa River Fund,” said Duane Highley, Tri-State CEO. “Tri-State has been an active steward of a healthy Yampa River for decades, through participation in the Yampa-White-Green Basin Roundtable and adherence to management best practices. We are delighted to further our support of this important resource for the communities and agriculture that rely on it, and for the river environment itself.”

Representatives from Tri-State and The Nature Conservancy will join other Yampa River Fund and community members this evening to celebrate the announcement in Craig, Colo.
