Lineman at work

Not-for-profit cooperative power

After 70+ years, our mission remains the same

Tri-State began as a not-for-profit association of electric co-ops in 1952 with the goal of providing electricity to rural homes, businesses and farms across the West—and that's still what drives us today. In accordance with cooperative principles, our mission is to supply our member systems with reliable, affordable and responsible electricity.

Learn how we're keeping that promise

Man in hard hat

Safety is our core value

We attend to the safety of our employees, contractors and communities before all other priorities. We aspire to prevent all fatalities and serious injuries by putting the protection of human life above all else. Since 2020, Tri-State has won over a dozen awards recognizing decades of outstanding safety performance from both field and plant employees.

Reliable, affordable, responsible power

As a member-owned and -governed cooperative, every member has a voice and a vote in where we’re going and how we’re getting there. Our priorities are the same as the members we serve: safe, affordable, clean and reliable power. As a co-op, we’re putting people first.
