Statement from Tri-State CEO Duane Highley on USDA's releasing of New ERA Funding
(March 26, 2025 — Westminster, Colo.) Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association CEO Duane Highley offered the following comments following U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins’ March 25, 2025, announcement on the releasing of previously obligated funding under the Rural Energy For America Program (REAP), Empowering Rural America (New ERA) and Powering Affordable Clean Energy (PACE) programs.
“Tri-State is glad to see that the U.S. Department of Agriculture has completed its review and is releasing funding for the New ERA Program. We appreciate the work of Secretary Rollins and her team to advance the program, and we will be reviewing the USDA’s guidance and look forward to continuing our work through their process. This program helps support Tri-State and our members’ investments in an energy infrastructure portfolio that brings affordable and reliable power to the families, farmers, ranchers and industries we together serve across the rural West.
"We appreciate members of Congress, especially U.S. Representatives Hurd, Evans, Boebert and Vasquez, and U.S. Senators Hickenlooper and Bennet, for weighing in with USDA and the Administration, and for showing their support for our application, our member systems and our rural communities.”
